What is a CPS Test?

A CPS test, or click speed test, measures how many accepted primary-mouse clicks are recorded per configured second. Final CPS = accepted primary-mouse clicks ÷ configured duration in seconds. The first accepted input starts the timer, counts, and locks the attempt to one accepted input type.

Mouse results use CPS. Touch and pen taps are measured separately as TPS, so Mouse, Touch, and Pen results should not be treated as directly interchangeable. Keyboard keys and Space do not count; this test does not measure reaction time, typing speed, APM, hardware behavior, or game skill.

How to take the CPS Test

  1. Choose a duration and test type.
  2. Press Start test.
  3. Use the official test area with an eligible Mouse, Touch, or Pen input.
  4. The first accepted input starts the timer, counts, and locks the attempt to that input type.
  5. Continue until the configured duration ends.
  6. Review final CPS or TPS, timing metrics, the chart, History, and Personal Best.

Best of 5 adds a preparation phase and automatically advances through all five one-second rounds after the single initial Start press.

Choose a duration and test type

1 second

The shortest preset, the only Best of 5 duration, and the most sensitive to a single input.

5 seconds

A short Single Test sample.

10 seconds

The default duration and recommended first test.

30 seconds

A sustained Single Test sample.

60 seconds

The longest preset and a sustained Single Test.

Custom

Enter a whole number from 1 to 300 seconds. Custom 1 supports Best of 5; every other valid value supports Single Test.

No duration is presented as an industry standard.

Single Test

Runs at every valid duration and saves one complete result. History and Personal Bests are isolated by input type and duration.

Best of 5

Runs only at exactly 1 second. Five automatically sequenced rounds share one locked input type and produce one compact series summary after round five.

For meaningful repeat comparisons, use the same input type, duration, and test variant. A 1-second Mouse result should not be treated as directly equivalent to a 60-second Mouse result or a Touch/Pen TPS result.

How to read your CPS result

Start with the final rate and then use the timing details to compare the same input type, duration, and variant. These values describe one browser test; they are not grades, ranks, or benchmarks.

Final CPS or TPS
Final CPS = accepted mouse clicks ÷ configured duration. Final TPS = accepted touch or pen taps ÷ configured duration. The configured duration is the formal denominator, not the time between the first and last input.
Peak 1s CPS or TPS
The highest accepted-input rate in a sliding one-second window, not the overall average.
Consistency
The existing bounded timing-stability score. It is not a rank, grade, or benchmark and displays a dash when unavailable.
First and second half
Rates for the two configured halves of the test.
Fatigue Change
(Second-half rate − first-half rate) ÷ first-half rate × 100. It describes this test's rate change, is unavailable when the first-half rate is zero, and does not diagnose fatigue or health.
Intervals
Average and fastest time between adjacent accepted inputs. They display a dash when fewer than two inputs are available.
Per-second chart
Accepted click or tap counts in each configured second.

Mouse CPS

Accepted primary mouse clicks ÷ configured seconds.

48 accepted mouse clicks in 10 seconds = 4.80 CPS.

Touch and Pen TPS

Accepted touch or pen taps ÷ configured seconds.

32 accepted touch taps in 5 seconds = 6.40 TPS.

The live rate uses accepted inputs divided by elapsed time so far. A live rate is not saved as a Personal Best.

How 1-second Best of 5 works

  1. Select preset 1 second or enter Custom 1.
  2. Select Best of 5 and press Start test once for the series.
  3. A one-second preparation phase appears before each round.
  4. The first accepted input starts round one, counts, and locks Mouse, Touch, or Pen for the full series.
  5. Inputs of another type are rejected.
  6. Each round lasts one configured second.
  7. The next preparation and round begin automatically; no additional Start press is required.
  8. Reset, Cancel series, blur, hidden, or pagehide interruption discards the unfinished series.
  9. After round five, one compact summary records five round rates, Average, Best, Worst, Standard Deviation, and Range.

Five rounds produce: 6.00, 7.00, 8.00, 7.00, and 6.00 CPS.

  • Range = 2.00

Limits, comfort, and privacy

Measures

ClickMetrik can measure accepted browser input counts, CPS or TPS, peak rate, adjacent intervals, consistency, half rates, Fatigue Change, per-second counts, and a one-second five-round summary.

Cannot verify

It cannot verify physical technique, game skill or legality, cheating, macros, automation, mouse faults, debounce, missed or double clicks, complete hardware latency, or a medical condition.

Only primary mouse, touch, or pen input inside the test area counts. Keyboard, Space, middle or right mouse buttons, synthetic input, and input outside the area do not count. Use a comfortable pace and stop if you feel pain or notable discomfort; this tool provides no medical diagnosis or treatment.

Local privacy

Compact History and Personal Bests remain in this browser and are bucketed by input type, duration, and Single Test or Best of 5. Clearing History removes recent homepage attempts; resetting a Personal Best affects only the selected bucket. Saved data excludes raw pointer events, coordinates, raw timestamps, interval arrays, per-second buckets, and identity. Share uses only a compact result.
